Wait

Learning what it is to ‘wait expectantly’…

When you’re waiting expectantly, essentially, you’re waiting with hope. Despite the season you’re in. Despite the grief. Despite the financial challenge. Despite the frustration. Despite the let-down. Despite the hurt. Despite… there is still hope. Because even if you’re in the process of being worn down, eroded, there is hope that God is working something beautiful out of the process.

You might not be able to see the beauty yet, your low tide may be coming, but we can have hope because,

“we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Romans 5:2b-5 NIV

Just like the beauty of a wave cut platform appears as the result of erosion over time and just like the beauty is only revealed in a low tide, sometimes the seemingly destructive and pressured environments create intricate and beautiful development.

We wait in hope for the Lord;
    he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
    for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
    even as we put our hope in you.

Psalm 33:20-22
