Shake it up

When stuff separates (medicine for example, or an Orangina for that matter) it loses its strength and potency. All the good stuff goes deep to the bottom. In order to be restored to how it should be it needs to be shaken up and mixed again.

Sometimes this is us with God.

We’re too settled and so in our complacency and contentment we start to separate from Him and lose touch with the Spirit. As soon as a shaking occurs it forces us to take what was deep below the surface and bring it back to the core of who we are, allowing His Spirit to permeate and infiltrate every part.

Cultivate these things. Immerse yourself in them. The people will all see you mature right before their eyes! Keep a firm grasp on both your character and your teaching. Don’t be diverted. Just keep at it. Both you and those who hear you will experience salvation.

1 Timothy 4:15-16 MSG

Don’t become sedentary and separate. Keep yourself immersed and intertwined in His Word and Spirit. Don’t be diverted! Take this time of global shaking as an opportunity to make sure the good stuff isn’t sinking to the bottom in your life. Don’t be afraid of a little shaking – it might be the very thing that gives you the full strength and impact you were always meant to have.
