PO Box

“…since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvellously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.”
Romans 12:6 MSG

I’ve worked in roles before where it’s been my responsibility to go and collect the mail from the PO box. These places are like mazes with box after box seemingly identical, but each marked with its own number. Once, I arrived at our box, knelt down, popped my key in and tried to open the box. Except it wouldn’t open. I tried a few times and it was no good. I was just about to go and get some help when I realised I’d turned the wrong corner in the warren of boxes and was trying to open the wrong box.

My key would only open the box it was designed to open. It would only give me access to the post and gifts that were addressed for me (the company). God promises to gift each and every one of his children. But the gifts we receive are not going to be identical. We all call ourselves Christians on the outside, and may to some extent ‘appear’ the same, but what we have within us, the gifts we have to offer, will be wildly different.

It’s no use comparing what someone else has got and wishing we had the same as them. Behind the scenes of the PO Boxes, someone has sorted and carefully assigned what is needed in each box. Our heavenly Father has done the same for us. AND, he’s given us what we need to access those gifts too. He has equipped us with everything we will need to access his gifts, and then use them for His glory. God has given you a key to access “everything good” that is needed. He’s given you the key. Ask the Holy Spirit to

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20-21 ESV
