Jenga

Jenga.

It’s a funny game. We build the tower up knowing and expecting it to fall. We carefully put piece upon piece despite the teetering until one block too many makes the whole thing collapse.

Sometimes I fall into the trap of approaching life as if I’m building a Jenga tower. I tentatively build, step out in faith, make a move, all the while subconsciously anticipating the whole thing will fall to pieces and come crumbling down in any moment.

Let’s stop living apprehensively or fearfully.

God is not Jenga. He is not teetering in His faithfulness, His desire for you is to live a life that is robust, secure, steadfast. And our steadfastness isn’t reliant on us getting all the blocks of our lives in some perfect alignment. Our steadfastness and security lies in the Lord whose steadfast love never ceases (Lamentations 3:22-23), endures forever (Psalm 118), and is “a sure foundation” (Isaiah 28:16).

Oh that we would surrender all the Jenga blocks of our lives and let Jesus be the one to build them on Himself. Because when He builds, nothing, not even the gates of hell, will stand against it (Matthew 16).
