Contagious

“We are grateful to God for your lives and we always pray for you. For we remember before our God and Father how you put your faith into practice, how your love motivates you to serve others, and how unrelenting is your hope-filled patience in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 (TPT)

The coronavirus is spreading. But it’s not the only thing that’s contagious. Fear is spreading too. Anxiety is on the rise. Across the globe people are panicking, hoarding, and the more we see it in the media, the more we’re susceptible to catch the fear, to be infected by the hopelessness.

But we have a hope that can’t be taken out by a virus.

Our hope is not in our wealth. Our hope is not in our job stability. It is not in our education system, our health system, or even our freedom. Our hope is not in our government – although honour their laws. Our hope is not in our medical professionals – although thank God and pray for them. Our hope is in the all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Our unrelenting hope is found only in Jesus.

And we are called to be carriers. Not of fear but of something far more infectious – we are called to be carriers of hope. This is the time to put your faith into practice. This is the time to let your love motivate you to serve others. This is the time to carry the hope of Christ into your community in creative and innovative ways.

Don’t be a fear pollutant. Let’s spread the good news. Where people feel like they’re drowning, going under and struggling to surface, struggling to find hope… let’s be the light. Be the spark that offers hope.
